Catherine Anne O'Hara OOC was born on March 4, 1954. O'Hara has won several distinctions that include an award called a Genie Award, a Golden Globe Award, two Screen Actors Guild Awards, two Primetime Emmy Awards, and six Canadian Screen Awards. In 2018, she was elected to the rank of an Officer of Canada. She was also presented with the Governor General’s Performing Arts Lifetime Artistic Achievement Medal in 2020. O'Hara first became known as an actress while she was part of The Second City improv comedy troupe in Toronto in 1974. Along with John Candy, O'Hara was part of the main ensemble cast for the sitcom Coming Up Rosie (1975-1978). O'Hara, Candy, and Dan Aykroyd first began working in Second City Television's sketch comedy program (1976-1984). O'Hara received praise for her comic acting and writing skills, earning her an Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Writer for the Variety Series in 1982. O'Hara was named to the Second City artistic advisory panel in 2022 by Stephen Colbert. Also included were Dwayne Colbert (Steve Carell), Tina Fey and Keegan Michael Key, and Jane Lynch, Tim Meadows.
